Code of Ethics

K-9 Search and Rescue Team, Inc.

As a member of K-9 Search and Rescue Team, Inc., I acknowledge and commit to honor the following values to the best of my ability:

That I have a moral obligation to the missing or injured and to the agencies, organizations and other members with whom I work; I shall endeavor to guard their interests honestly and deal with them fairly, wisely, and in an efficient, proper manner.

That I shall behave honestly in all matters, respect privileged communications, respect the rights of others, and respect their property and person.  I will avoid any real or perceived conflicts of interest and deal with others fairly, courteously and politely in both my personal life and my professional team life. I will strive to communicate with all in an appropriate, purposeful and positive manner.  I will dress neatly and appropriately for the occasion.

That I shall continuously work to raise the standards of performance of search and rescue to the highest attainable levels without regard to race, sex, religion, cultural background, sexual preference, economic, disease state, or social condition in service to humanity.

That I have an assumed obligation to advance the knowledge and skills of search and rescue so that I can serve the needs of the missing or injured.  I shall strive to improve my own knowledge and skills; support others by sharing my experience and knowledge; and strive to keep myself fully informed of new developments in the profession. I will forever remember and practice “Safety First” for myself, my Team members, and the lost and/or injured.

That I shall forever respect my canine teammates.  I will work with dogs with love and respect.

That I shall support the mission of the K-9 Search and Rescue Team, Inc., “…That others may live…” and shall at all times conduct myself in an ethical and prudent manner worthy of my profession.

Adopted in part from the National Association for Search and Rescue Code of Ethics and from the National FFA Organization Manual.
